The hottest trends come from the streets of the coolest cities in the world!
What is Copenhagen Street Style?
Contrary to what most people would think Copenhagen Street Style is not about fashion or labels. It is a style-blog that aims at documenting how the young and the creative of Copenhagen express themselves with clothes.
Why Street Style?
Streetstyle is about real people and the way they present themselves.
Arts, music, social identities and even geography have an immense effect on the way people dress. Take a look on the different sites in our blogroll. Each site is representative of its city! We’re hoping to represent the soul of Copenhagen…..even if it’s only a small fragment of its complex identity! We believe that streetstyle-blogs play a major role in the democratization of fashion. People are becoming increasingly interested in the people behind the clothes. Trends are no longer dictated by fashion-editors, exclusive designers and celebrities alone. The ordinary people on the street are becoming ever more powerful.
Why Copenhagen?
Everybody is style-consious in Copenhagen. It has a distinguishing sense of style….people are very willing to try new things, bold colors and crazy cuts especially the young and the people from the creative class. It’s funky and “clubby” and vintage bohemian all at the same time. It’s that mix that we’re trying to document
CopenhagenStreetStyle thinks….
Copenhagen rocks because:
It’s a very creative and inspiring city. Trends within graphic design, fashion and design tend to come here reasonably early. In the summer it’s truly a beautiful city….the lakes, the streets of Nørrebro teeming with activity and life and lots of cool cafés and bars.
Copenhagen sucks because:
It’s really a small town pretending to be a metropol. Everybody in Copenhagen thinks they and the city is the centre of the world. It’s a very image-oriented city. EVERYBODY in Copenhagen are design-snobs. People would rather have an ugly chair from Verner Phanton than a beautiful but cheap one by some unknown young design-graduate. It’s crazy. And it doesn’t stop at furniture. To be someone here you have to get every little detail right. Even down to the sugar you put in your expensive Kusmi-tea. When people’s image-directing goes overhand so does rationality and content. Everybody wears Palestine-shawls and claim they’re left wing-oriented but no one really reflects over what it really means. Sometimes we wish that the art-scene would be a bit more edgy and experimental aswell. But we guess that’s the relationship urban people all over the world have with our cities. We love it and we hate it.
Fashion-wise Copenhagen is:
People in Copenhagen are more fashionable that anywhere else in Scandinavia. We have a lot of cool designers. Just look at Baum und Pferdgarten, Wood wood, Henrik Vibskov and so many more. All in all Copenhageners are very consumed by fashion and style. If you want to be someone you have to wear Marc Jacobs shoes, Baum und Pferdgarten-dresses and Henrik Vibskov-scarfs. When there’s a fashion-craze EVERYBODY jumps on it and wear it hysterically until we see someone not as cool as we like to think we are wear it. Then it’s off to the next thing….. Also Copenhageners have way too much money. We don’t even flinch when we buy a scarf for 2000 Danish kronor (around 150 dollars).
